The Lost Art of Bunting
Learning to bunt helps you to be a better HITTER and TEAM PLAYER
Situation: Runners on First and Second Base, with no outs and the crowd cheering
How does bunting help you to become a better Hitter you ask? It helps your concentration because you need to focus on seeing the ball hit the bat. Bunting also improves your bat control by working your bat angle to bunt to third or first base. Lastly, it builds confidences by your trusting yourself to let the ball hit the bat not the bat hit the ball.
It is a buried treasure that management, professional and amateur players often do not utilize during critical times to get runners in scoring positions. Of course, it puts the third and first basemen on alert, but if executed well it can change the game!
You become a better team player by learning to sacrifice your at bat for the “good of the team.” You can also learn to bunt for a base hit. So remember, learn to bunt to become a better hitter and team player;
